US cyber security firm CyCognito raised $ 18 million in financing

US-based Israeli cybersecurity firm CyCognito, a company that develops a security analysis service that simulates the work of a cyber attacker to detect the weaknesses of an organization, announced Tuesday that it has raised $ 18 million in a round of Series A financing.

The round was led by US VC Lightspeed Venture Partners, with the participation of Microsoft President John W. Thompson and Sorenson Ventures.

Existing investors such as UpWest and Dan Scheinman added another $ 5 million during the company's seed round, bringing the company's current capital to $ 23 million to date.

Founded in 2017 by Dima Potekhin and Rob Gurzeev, Cycognito employs a team of 50, of which 38 are in Israel and the rest in Palo Alto, California. The company has presented its next generation platform.

"Our research and experience shows that most organizations rely on legacy security approaches that cannot detect and detect critical security risks but, ironically, bad actors can search and exploit these unprotected roads with surprising ease," said Gurzeev, CEO of CyCognito. and co-founder. "We and our investors are deeply committed to helping clients find the exposures that attackers can easily exploit but that internal security teams simply cannot see."

The company says it will use the fund to develop its software platform as a service, which is already used by dozens of customers. The platform is said to fill a "fundamental security gap": identify and eliminate hidden risk, the blind security points of an organization.

"Protecting an organization from cyber attacks is one of the most challenging missions of this century," said John W. Thompson, Lightspeed risk partner and president of Microsoft. "Rob and Dima have taken advantage of their cybersecurity experience and combined it with an Internet-scale infrastructure to create a platform that can consistently outperform cybercriminals."

"CyCognito is a modern and automated platform that redefines the way brands protect themselves and their customers from cyber attacks today and tomorrow," adds Arif Janmohamed, partner of Lightspeed Venture Partners.
