We all have or had a cell phone or tablet that allowed us to expand its storage using a microSD card . You don't have to spend a lot of money to have a quality one that works properly, so today we are going to show you several examples of it.

Buying a good microSD card will make the device where we put it work better than if we put a low quality one. But it is clear that we must know the basic aspects of this type of product.

Card types

There are three main types of card at the moment, which differ in size and thickness.

SD card : they are the first to reach the market and their measures are 32 x 24 x 2.1 mm. They are mainly connected to photographic and video cameras.

MiniSD card : they are not as used as the others and have dimensions of 21.5 x 20 x 1.4 mm.

MicroSD card : these are the ones we are going to talk about today and have the dimensions of 15 x 11 x 1 millimeter. They are mainly used on cell phones and tablets.

Capacity types

The letter codes you see on the microSD are the way to represent the storage capacity.

SDSC - It means Stardard capacity and they have storage of up to 2 GB.

SDHC : this type of high capacity cards has a maximum storage capacity of 32 GB.

SDXC : are those with the capacity to store up to 2 TB (Extended Capacity).

Card classes

MicroSD cards also differ in the recording speed they are able to achieve.

Class 2 : the minimum speed is 2 MB / s.

Class 4 : Its minimum recording speed is 4 MB / s and it accepts 720p videos.

Class 6 : has a minimum write speed of 6 MB / s.

Class 10 : are those that have a minimum recording speed of 10 MB / s and can be used for 1080p video.

UHS Class 1 (U1) speed: its minimum speed is 10 MB / s, but by having a better bus we can have longer 1080p videos.

UHS Class 3 (U3) speed: Minimum speed of 30 MB / s ideal for recording 4K video.

To put on a cell phone or tablet, our advice is that the card you use is at least class 10, since today's devices are almost all very powerful.
